What employers should know
- Hours worked on a public holiday are normally paid at twice the wage. If the same hours are overtime, both entitlements must be considered without counting the base wage twice.
- The scheduled workday immediately before New Year’s Day, Independence Day, Victory Day and Christmas Eve is shortened by three hours.
- National and public holidays are not counted as annual-leave days. A weekend holiday is not automatically moved to Monday.
